We are an active School!, by Mrs Walsh

Date: 18th Jul 2022 @ 4:11pm

At Wistaston Academy, we LOVE being active! Take a look at our facilities for active learning and how we embed active learning throughout the school. Being active makes us feel alive! It means school is fun and makes us want to go to school. Our year 6s share their thoughts and learning about the importance of fostering a healthy, active lifestyle: we believe that a healthy body promotes a healthy and happy mind! At Team Wistaston Academy we believe active learning is something that should include everyone!

Bird Hides, by Mrs Lowry

Date: 14th Jul 2022 @ 9:41pm

Year 5 designed and made their own bird hide prototypes which we could use in the Amazon Rainforest to observe the wildlife there.
We used different cutting and joining techniques to create some fantastic hides. Well done everyone!

Year 5 Geography Pens Down Day, by Mrs Lowry

Date: 4th Nov 2021 @ 10:06am

On Monday, Year 5 became designers and planners! We designed a new building for school both inside and out. We made a 3D plan on Purple Mash and we were then able to create the model from the net. We thought about how we could make it sustainable to help our changing world.

In the afternoon, we looked at a map of our school and found North using a    compass. This helped us to plan an orienteering route and make a fortune teller showing what is in each direction (North, South, East and West) when we stand in the middle of the playground.

Year 5 Healthy Eating Week, by Mrs Lowry

Date: 21st Oct 2021 @ 12:51pm

This week has been healthy eating week. First, we talked about the benefits of exercise, being outdoors and sunshine for good mental well-being. We then spent some time discussing how sleep contributes to a healthy lifestyle. We thought of somethings that made sleep difficult and some solutions to these problems. On Tuesday, we had the Great Wizzy Bake off and made rice salad and couscous salad. Also during this week we have discussed healthy food and talked about the different information on food labels. Finally we completed a positivity sheet about things we grateful for and happy about.
