Wistaston Academy are proud to be working with Flutterbys. Here is a biography.
Flutterbys was founded in 2019 by three mums who were incredibly lucky enough to have found each other. We all found that on our journey to support our young people, that there was no safe and secure support for younger transgender youth. We discovered that this was similar in a lot of different areas across the UK. So here we are, three mums, three families all at different stages on this incredible transgender journey of enlightenment and support. We came together with a promise. A promise that we wanted to include all ages of transgender youth, and involve mums, dads, siblings, grandparents and every member of the family.
We feel so strongly towards ensuring that Flutterbys is and will continue to be a lasting community of love, hope and safety, it is so important to us that no one should have to feel isolated or excluded on their own journey.
Our group sessions are held in a safe and secure location, only made aware to those that attend. We could easily hold groups in coffee shops, however it began to concern us that we would not have complete control over the safety of our young people, where the general public community could intrude into the group.
Flutterbys is in the process of registering to become a CIO organisation. We are a nonprofit network of support. We are so excited to be able to help support so many amazing people!.
