Year 4 B - Miss Williams 2020 - 2021

Welcome Back!!

School starts back on the 8th March.

This half-term we will be reviewing our home learning about multiplcation, Division and Fractions. We will also move onto decimals.

In Literacy we will continue working hard on our writing for different genres.

In History, we are learning about the Victorians and in Science we are looking at Teeth and Eating.

PE will be on a Tuesday and Thursday. Thursday will be Forest school in PE so please bring warm clothes and appropriate shoes that you do not mind getting muddy.

Welcome to Year 4

Our names are Miss Willis and Miss Williams. Learning in Year 4 is supported by Mrs Cave and Miss Dean.

During the Autumn term, we will be looking at a range of topics in our class.

In Maths, we are looking at place value and the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

During Literacy, we are basing our writing on our class book ‘The Lost Happy Endings’. We are reading this book in our guided reading lessons and hope to spark our imagination to write a setting description.

In the afternoons, we will look at a wide variety of topics, such as Sound in Science, Earthquakes and Volcanoes in Geography and the Romans in History.

Art

Children receive weekly Art sessions led by Mrs Walsh.

PE

Our PE days are Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Please make sure that your child has a named kit, which includes black pumps or trainers, black shorts and either a green or white t-shirt. Long hair needs to be tied back.

All earrings need to be removed before school or the lesson for PE sessions. Where ears have recently been pierced, it is essential that children have their own plasters from home to cover their earrings. This needs to be done either at home or by the child themselves. This is in line with the school policy.

Attendance

Excellent attendance is vital for helping your child to achieve their full potential. Please ensure your child is in school promptly at 8.40.

School finishes at 3.15 and children continue to be collected from classrooms at this time.

Home learning

Spellings will be given out every Monday to be practiced at home for a spelling test on Friday.  Parents are encouraged to read with their children every day to support progress in reading and to help nurture a love for reading. Your child can access MyOn to read and quiz on a range of books.

There will be weekly TT Rockstar battles against the other year 4 class, please ensure your child takes part as there now is a national year 4 times table assessment online. There is also EdShed where children can practise their times tables and spelling.
