Welcome to Year 4B

My name is Miss Williams. Learning in Year 4B is supported by Ms Carter. I hope you have had a fantastic Summer break and you are looking forward to the year ahead.

During the Autumn term, we will be looking at a range of topics in our class.

In Maths, we are looking at place value and the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

During Literacy, we are basing our writing on our class book ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. We are reading this book in our guided reading lessons and hope to spark our imagination to write a creative narrative.

In the afternoons, we will look at a wide variety of topics, such as Sound in Science, the Seaside in Geography and the Romans in History.

Art

Children receive weekly Art sessions led by Mrs Walsh in the dedicated art room on a Tuesday.

PE

Our PE days are Mondays (with Miss Williams) and Tuesdays (with Mrs Adamczyk).  Please make sure that your child has a named kit, which includes black pumps or trainers, black shorts and either a green or white t-shirt. Long hair needs to be tied back.

All earrings need to be removed before school or the lesson for PE sessions. Where ears have recently been pierced, it is essential that children have their own plasters from home to cover their earrings. This needs to be done either at home or by the child themselves. This is in line with the school policy.

Attendance

Excellent attendance is vital for achieving your child’s potential. Please ensure your child is in school promptly at 8.40.

School finishes at 3.15 and children continue to be collected from classrooms at this time.

Home learning

Spellings will be given out every Monday to be practiced at home for a spelling test on Friday.  Parents are encouraged to read with their children at least three times a week to support progress in reading and to help nurture a love for reading. Practicing times tables is essential as by the end of year 4 the children should know all their times tables, from 1 to 12.
