Year 4 A - Miss Aldridge 2019 - 2020

Hello Year 4,

We hope that you’re all keeping well and not getting bored yet!

During this difficult time, you may find it useful to try to keep to your daily routines as much as possible. For us that means doing some maths, Literacy and reading activities in the morning before working through some foundation subjects in the afternoon.

We sent you all home with Maths and English workbooks and we suggest that you do about 2 pages per day from those. In addition, you can also access fun maths games on Maths Shed, Purple Mash and TT Rock Stars.  As part of your English home learning, we’d like for you to complete two extra activities (don’t worry, you have until April 16th to hand them in).

Extra Literacy Activity 1

Listen to this audio story https://www.storynory.com/st-george-and-the-dragon/

Log in to Purple Mash and go to your alerts, here you will see an option to Create a Story. We would like to you to use this tool to retell the audio story. Remember to excite your readers (Miss Aldridge and Mrs Taylor) by using different sentence openers, exciting words and a variety of sentence types.

Only hand it in once it is complete.

Extra Literacy Activity 2

Write a set of instructions for making chocolate crispie cakes.

Log in to purple mash to find this 2Do.

Your instructions must include time adverbials (next, then after that etc.) and imperative verbs (bossy words). You could also add your very own pictures of you making them.

Only hand it in once it is complete.

Even though you are not in school, reading books is a great way to pass the time. Remember that you can now access more than a 1000 books by logging in to myON. We are also publishing bedtime stories on our Facebook page and there are many authors who are reading their stories online to help keep you all entertained until schools reopen.

Be sure to complete your Purple Mash 2Do’s on coding, the water cycle and Victorians. We’ll add more soon.

We miss you all and can’t wait to see you again but in the meantime we will keep in touch with you all via PurpleMash and our webpages.

Keep washing your hands and keep active – check out Joe Wickes on Youtube as well as Cosmic Kids Yoga.

Bye for now,

Miss Aldridge and Mrs Taylor
