Year 3 B - Miss Williams 2019 - 2020

Miss Williams

Welcome to Year 3B

My name is Miss Blakeman and I am the teacher in 3B. Our class is supported by the amazing Mrs Carswell.

During the Autumn term, we will be looking at a range of topics in our class.

In Maths, we are looking at Place Value and then the focus switches to Addition and Subtraction. As well as this, we do some daily Arithmetic questions that work through the times tables.

During Literacy, we are basing our writing on our class book ‘Tell me a Dragon’, with our focus being on writing character descriptions.

In the afternoons, we will look at a wide variety of topics, such as ‘Rocks’ in Science and ‘Exploring the world’ in Geography.

Children receive weekly Art sessions led by Mrs Walsh in the dedicated art room. Mrs Walsh also teaches our class R.E. and Music.

Our PE days are Tuesday’s (with Mr Hilsden) and Thursday’s (with Mrs Adamczyk).  Please make sure that your child has a named kit, which includes black pumps or trainers, black shorts and either a green or white t-shirt. Long hair needs to be tied back.

All earrings need to be removed before school or the lesson for PE sessions. Where ears have recently been pierced, it is essential that children have their own plasters from home to cover their earrings. This needs to be done either at home or by the child themselves. This is in line with the school policy.

Children will be expected to do PE unless they have a letter from home. If this is the case they will still change for PE but will help coach and support the other children in the lesson.

Excellent attendance is vital for achieving your child’s potential. Please ensure your child is in school promptly at 8.40.

School finishes at 3.15 and children continue to be collected from classrooms at this time.

Home learning

Spellings will be given out every Monday to be practised at home for a spelling test on Friday. The children’s spelling books must be brought to school every Monday to receive the spellings for that week.

Parents are encouraged to read with their children home at least three times a week to support progress in reading and to help nurture a love for reading. Children will have the opportunity to complete an Accelerated Reading quiz in school which asks them questions about their book.
