Year 3 A - Miss Willis 2019 - 2020

Hi Year 3

Hope you and your families are well and keeping busy at home.

Miss Williams and I have set some 2dos on Purple Mash for you to complete if you have access to the internet. Please make sure you check this regularly as we will be adding to these. You are also able to email us to let us know what you have been doing at home, ask us any questions about your home learning or even just to say hi.

Don't forget to have a go at the Maths and English workbooks and guided reading activities that we sent home. Also remember to use TT Rockstars, Numbots and Spelling Shed! All your passwords are inside your home learning folders.

Make sure you are reading regularly. There are so many online books that you can read if you log on to (you can log in using your Accelerated Reader details). Also, remember that you can now quiz from home!

Also, remember that you can now quiz from home!

Type into your search bar:

You must be very specific with this. If you just type AR into google search it won’t work!

Happy reading and quizzing.

In the files section, you will find a list of activities that you can be doing at home and a proposed timetable that you could use.

Keep doing a great job of working from home and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Miss Willis

Our names are Miss Willis and Miss Williams. Learning in Year 3 is supported by Mrs Cave and Miss Wright.

During the Autumn term, we will be looking at a range of topics in our class.

In Maths, we are looking at place value and the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

During Literacy, we are basing our writing on our class book ‘The BFG’. We are reading this book in our guided reading lessons and hope to spark our imagination to write a character description and instructions.

In the afternoons, we will look at a wide variety of topics, such as Rocks in Science, ‘Where on Earth we are? In Geography and the Stone Age in History.

Children receive weekly Art sessions led by Mrs Walsh in the dedicated art room.

Our PE days are Wednesdays (with Miss Willis and Miss Williams) and Fridays (with Mrs Adamczyk). Please make sure that your child has a named kit, which includes black pumps or trainers, black shorts and either a green or white t-shirt. Long hair needs to be tied back.

All earrings need to be removed before school or the lesson for PE sessions. Where ears have recently been pierced, it is essential that children have their own plasters from home to cover their earrings. This needs to be done either at home or by the child themselves. This is in line with the school policy.

Excellent attendance is vital for helping your child to achieve their full potential. Please ensure your child is in school promptly at 8.40.

School finishes at 3.15 and children continue to be collected from classrooms at this time.

Home learning

Spellings will be given out every Monday to be practiced at home for a spelling test on Friday.  Parents are encouraged to read with their children every day to support progress in reading and to help nurture a love for reading. Children will be given a reading planner which should be signed every night and sent to school with them and their reading book every day.
